16 June 2010 – Game provider Nekki can look back on nine successful months of constantly rising user numbers and a growing fan community with its browser game 11x11. Over 500,000 players have registered since the release of 11x11 in six European languages in September 2009. The threshold of half a million was passed within a few days after the kick-off of the current World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
The international arrangement of 11x11, which is simultaneously offered in seven languages, enables the provider Nekki to arrange a virtual "11x11-World Championship" accompanying the World Cup: Around 3,000 active players from all over Europe could qualify for the competition and are currently fighting for the much sought-after title of the World Championship. During the beginning stage of the World Cup, the servers are constantly high performing: Up to 3,500 users play simultaneously on the 11x11 servers during peak periods. With almost 6,000 new registrations, the hitherto existing registration record was broken on June 15.
